Gavin Allsop

Head of Business Development

As Head of Business Development, Gavin is responsible for enabling his team to present the Exothera value proposition with clarity and integrity. He lives by the principle that client satisfaction, staff wellbeing and productivity are intrinsically linked. 

After a few years in academia, Gavin found his passion as a strategic Business Development Scientist, specialising in synthetic biology, genome editing and viral vector manufacture. For the past 12 years he has provided technical and commercial guidance, most recently in the Cell and Gene Therapy space; helping companies develop new products, license technologies, and contract out their manufacturing services. 

Following time supporting VWR International and ThermoFisher Scientific, Gavin made major contributions to the ultimate acquisition of OXGENE and the establishment of ViroCell Biologics.  

Gavin holds a bachelor’s degree in Molecular Genetics from the University of Warwick and a PhD in Molecular & Cellular Biology from the University of Leeds.
